Security forces in North Sinai apprehended 16 Sudanese nationals for attempting to sneak into Israel through Egypt’s border in the Nakhl region.
The apprehended migrants were aged between 24 and 37.
African migrants, occasionally arrested at the Egyptian-Israeli border usually seek job opportunities in Israel, where they are hired as cheap labor.
Egypt has been struggling over the past years to combat illegal migration both through its borders with Israel and via the Mediterranean to Europe.
