Trade between Egypt and France reached a value of $2.5 billion in the fiscal year 2016/17, announced the manager of Business France Office in Egypt, Ludovic Prevest.

Prevest declared he expected the trade exchange between the two countries to inrease even further in the fiscal year 2017/18, adding that Egypt is a primary trade partner to France.

As for Egypt, France ranks number 11 on its top trading partners’ list.

Prevest added that the Sial Paris Exhibition aims to increase trade between Egypt and France through improving economic ties between Egypt and the European Union (EU).

Sial Paris is a trade exhibition that focuses on food processing industries. It began in 1964 and has been taking place every two years ever since. This year, it will take place from October 21-25.

In 2016, 109 Egyptian companies took part in the event, revealed Prevest, but this year the number is expected to increase.

In earlier statements, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Kabil announced that Egyptian exports to France had increased 36.4 percent in 2017, recording 572 million euros compared to 420 million euros in 2016.

Since the flotation of the Egyptian pound in November 2016, Egyptian goods have become more in-demand in foreign markets.
