Ali Sahl Ali escaped from militants who held him in Libya's Zalla area but did not return to Egypt with 20 other Egyptians, said Mohamed Abdel Gawad, one of men who returned Tuesday from Libya.
The families of the former captives said that their sons were not abducted by the Islamic State in Libya, but were kidnapped by Libyan militias that belong to the regime of former Libyan leader Muammar Ghadafi. They added that Egyptian intelligence coordinated with the Libyan army to free the Egyptians.
