33 Egyptian prisoners arrive on plane from Tripoli

Thirty-three Egyptian prisoners arrived in Cairo on Thursday, returning from Libya after the Egyptian Foreign Ministry successfully convinced the Libyan government to transfer them.

Security authorities at Cairo International Airport said the prisoners were transported on a private plane with 211 Egyptians on board. They had left from Tunisia’s Djerba after crossing the Tunisian-Libyan border.

The sources also added that the prisoners possessed travel documents from the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli. Their punishment periods ranged from one to 25 years in prison on various charges. All were reviewed by security authorities, to ensure that no other court rulings had been issued against them in Egypt.

Eight other Libyan and Tunisian nationals also arrived on the same plane.
