5-hour power cut in Gharbiya Sunday

Power outages extending to up to five hours on Sunday provoked the wrath of the Gharbiya province residents. The power cuts alternated between different villages and cities throughout the governorate.

The lack of electricity stopped work at hundreds of factories in the cities of Tanta, Mahalla and Bassioun.

Residents called on the governor to intervene so electricity could be restored in the province.

The Egyptian government has been adopting a scheduled power cut policy to reduce pressure on the national electricity network in order to meet soaring demands during the summer, a time when power stations fall short of the fuel needed to run operations.
