North Damanhur Prosecution released 50 Syrians on Saturday following their arrest for an illegal attempt to immigrate to Italy. Border guards had found the Syrians inside a fishing boat in Rashid en route to Italy.
All 50 defendants were released, as the prosecution decided to leave administrative authorities to take action on the defendants violating residency requirements.
The defendants responsible for helping them immigrate, however, still face charges.
