51 Brotherhood members arrested nationwide: source

Fifty-one Muslim Brotherhood members leaders have been arrested across Egypt, a security source told Egypt Independent, part of a nationwide campaign by the Interior Ministry to clamp down on the beleaguered Islamist organization.

The Interior Ministry launched on Monday a campaign against Brotherhood administrative offices, the source said.

Administrative offices represent a key link between the organization's Guidance Bureau in Cairo and leading members in each Egyptian city.

Among the 51 arrested was Hamdy Hassan, a Brotherhood figure in Alexandria, Egypt's second city.

Arrested members face charges of murder, attempted murder and incitement to violence.
