6 April calls on Egyptian voters to boycott parliamentary elections

The 6 April protest movement launched a campaign this week calling on Egyptians to boycott 28 November parliamentary elections.

Campaigners sprayed graffiti on the walls of schools, universities and buildings near the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP)'s various provincial branches that read, "We will expose the vote-rigging."

The movement has also reportedly postponed a conference–originally slated for 9 November–until 25 December, in order to coincide with the NDP's annual party congress.

The 6 April movement has also launched a second campaign on university campuses aimed at educating students about their political rights and promoting means of achieving democratic reform.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the movement said it would maintain its longstanding calls for political change despite repeated instances of harassment at the hands of state security services.
