The Supreme Administrative Court Wednesday overruled an earlier decision by the Education Ministry prohibiting female students from wearing the niqab (full Islamic face veil) while sitting for university exams.
In explaining its verdict, the court declared that women enjoyed the freedom to dress however they saw fit.
Meanwhile, however, the Administrative Judicial Court issued a decision in support of the ban, rejecting challenges to its decision submitted by student groups.
