The Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanor Court sentenced a defendant to one year and eight months in prison on charges of thuggery and weapons possession during the Simon Bolivar clashes in November.
The court acquitted three others charged over the same incident.
The Qasr al-Nil prosecution had referred the suspects to trial for assaulting police, rioting and damaging public property during clashes that took place following the commemoration of the 2011 Mohamed Mahmoud violence.
