An ancient Roman bust purchased by a Brazilian tourist in 1976 has returned to Egypt
Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said the Brazilian citizen's daughter decided to return the piece according to the will of her deceased father.
Osama al-Nahhas, who heads the ministry's department for retrieved pieces, said experts have authenticated the piece, adding that it was retrieved in late January in coordination with the Foreign Ministry and the Egyptian Embassy in Brazil.
The bust is being restored and will be displayed at the Egyptian Museum, Nahhas said.
