The Muslim Brotherhood on Sunday denied news reports that Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie had offered to halt Islamist protests in exchange for the release and return to power of President Mohamed Morsy.
Reports also suggested Badie had called for all measures infringing on Morsy's presidential legitimacy to be revoked.
“The [Muslim Brotherhood-led] National Alliance in Support of Legitimacy, which consists of 40 parties and political movements, does not accept any negotiations before the withdrawal of Defence Minister General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's statement, and the reinstatement of President Morsy," group spokesperson Yasser Mehrez said Sunday.
Mehrez said the Islamist coalition demands the preservation of legitimacy, democracy and the gains of Egypt's "glorious" 25 January revolution.
