Rafah border crossing closed on 23 July

The Egyptian authorities have closed the Rafah border crossing on both sides on Tuesday, 23 July, which marks a national holiday commemorating the 23 July revolution, an official source told a state-run website.
 
The source said work would resume Wednesday.
 
The crossing started to operate according to a new system on 28 May 2011.
 
893,860 people have crossed the border since then. 444,995 people entered the country coming from the Gaza Strip and 448, 865 people left the country through the crossing.
