The German Commission for the Protection of the Constitution, otherwise known as State Security, has announced that increasing numbers of German Islamists are now fighting in Syria to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
State Security chief, Hans-Georg, on Wednesday warned of risks of Islamist fighters returning and carrying out extremist activities inside Germany, but said there is no current evidence suggesting this would happen.
He said the organization has a list of more than 120 Islamists who travelled to Syria and later returned.
