Presidential spokesperson Ihab Badawy has said that interim President Adly Mansour issued a decree on Thursday, replacing Bassam al-Zarqa, the Nour Party representative on the 50-member committee to amend the constitution.
Nour Party spokesperson Sherif Taha said that following an emergency meeting, the party nominated Mohamed Mansour, who is set to replace Zarqa after leaving for health reasons. Salah al-Sayed was also nominated as a stand-in representative.
Zarqa had disagreements with the committee over proposed amendments related to the status of Islamic Sharia in the constitution.
