Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and intelligence chief General Omar Suleiman will hold talks on Thursday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah to discuss recent developments in the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki told reporters on Wednesday that Abul Gheit and Suleiman intend to relay a message from President Hosni Mubarak.
Zaki said the message concerns “Egypt's evaluation of the direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and Palestinian reconciliation talks." He added that they were looking forward to discussing the current situation with the Palestinian side, including the possible options in the event that negotiations fail.
Abul Gheit and Suleiman will also visit Jordan on Thursday, according to Zaki, to convey a message from Mubarak to King Abdullah II of Jordan.
