Mansoura University President Sayed Abdel Khaleq referred all members of the Student Union at the Faculty of Medicine for investigation after an inspection committee allegedly found pro-Muslim Brotherhood materials in their possession.
The committee is said to have found leaflets and banners that incited violence and that were anti-military and police, in addition to T-shirts with the Rabea al-Adawiya four finger gesture and other items to be used in pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests.
Abdel Khaleq formed the committee on Tuesday to inspect the Student Union office in the college, after he had received complaints from students accusing members of using the office for political reasons.
The government has been engaged in a heavy anti-Brotherhood campaign since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy on 3 July, cracking down on his supporters. Meanwhile society has become more polarized between pro- and anti-Muslim Brotherhood standpoints.
