Tanta Criminal Court adjourned on Saturday the trial of nine activists who were arrested under rule of former President Mohamed Morsy to 9 February.
The activists face charges of rioting and protesting against rule of Morsy.
The detained protesters include: Khaled al-Doweik, Ayman Mohamed abdel Moneim al-Qammash, abdel Rahman al-Barr, Youssef al-Hamaqy, Mohamed Ahmed Azab, Mo’men Ahmed, Ayman Horus, Amgad Horus and Fahd abdel Meguid.
Thousands of Tanta residents took part in mass marches. They protested before Gharbiya security department against the Muslim Brotherhood rule. Clashes erupted among protesters and security troops who were securing the department.
The nine activists were arrested and referred to Criminal Court for attempting to break into the governorate building office, security department and rioting. They were sent to Damanhour Public Prison.
