Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir received a message from his Egyptian counterpart Adly Mansour concerning Egypt's membership in the African Union (AU).
The message included a review of recent political and constitutional developments in Egypt, as well as the referendum on the Constitution and democratic developments, the Sudanese official news agency SUNA said. The message also included a request for Sudanese support to cancel the freeze on Egypt's membership in the AU.
In related news, Bashir arrived on Tuesday at the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa at the head of a Sudanese delegation to take part in the 22nd summit of the AU that will kick off on Thursday.
The AU froze Egypt's membership in July upon the ouster of ex-President Mohamed Morsy and the declaration of the transitional roadmap.
The two countries have recently exchanged conflicting remarks claiming ownership of Halayeb and Shalateen, located on the borders between the two countries, causing tension.
