Committee on Law on the Exercise of Political Rights decided on Sunday to hold parliamentary elections through mixed system.
Parties of Tagammu, Free Egyptians and Democratic Egyptians earlier submitted proposal to presidency to hold the parliamentary elections through a mixed system of single-winner and list-based systems so that all electoral districts would have specific rate of closed partisan lists.
However, parties of Wafd and Conference refused to sign the proposal. Conference Party adopted another proposal and submitted it then to presidency to be considered.
Egyptian parliament has adopted since 2011 revolution the mixed system. Parliament was dissolved in June 2012, when the Supreme Constitutional Court ordered unconstitutionality of the articles of elections law.
