The Health Ministry has reported 108 suspected cases of the Coronavirus and one case was confirmed, Advisor to the Minister of Health Nasser Abdo said in a phone-in with MBC Channel Monday.
The patient recovered after treatment, and most other samples were negative, he added.
The Ministry of Health and Population said that the analysis of samples taken from two passengers who recently died in Port Said and Monufiya after returning from Saudi Arabia showed they did not die from the Corona virus.
The analysis results of samples from the two women, which was conducted at the central Health Ministry labs, were negative, a statement by the Health Ministry said Tuesday.
The Health Ministry is closely following the situation of the epidemiological disease locally and regionally and will announce any new cases of infection once discovered, the statement added.
"The Ministry of Health is working to prevent the spread of the virus into Egypt but the process is very difficult because the incubation period is between two to 14 days," Abdo added.
The patient may get infected in Saudi Arabia, and then the symptoms appear later in Egypt, which makes it is difficult to detect the disease at the airport even through the analysis of samples, Abdo said.
"We can not prevent infection from the Corona virus as people think," Abdo said.
