A Petroleum Ministry official said that the shortage of gas needed for power plants will not be resolved before the arrival of the first shipment of imported gas in September.
He said the government has contracted 12 gas shipments from Russia and France and is negotiating six more with Algeria.
He added that the ministry is currently compensating the shortfall in gas with 26,000 tons of diesel fuel per day.
