Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ayman Farid Abu Hadid said the scout wheat fields hit for the first time in Egypt the record of 7,000 fields in 2014.
“This allows us to pass technical recommendations easily to all wheat growers,” he said. “There are 3.4 million acres cultivated with wheat especially in Sharqiya, Dakahlia and Beheira.”
He said the ministry plans to achieve a high production, which is why it cultivated 5,000 scout fields in all villages, in addition to 2,100 fields within the National Campaign for Wheat and 200 fields in collaboration with civil society organizations.
He urged farmers to sell all their crops to the ministry and not keep some of it as seeds. “They can get the seeds from the ministry,” he said, adding that Egypt needs nine million tons of wheat but only produces eight million tons.
