The EU Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis on Wednesday met with human rights activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah, according to the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies.
The meeting addressed the state of human rights defenders in Egypt and the challenges that face their work at the present time.
Meanwhile, the meeting also addressed the status of detainees in prison and included a discussion about the protest law and its implications for the right to peaceful assembly.
Last month, Cairo Appeals Court released Abdel Fattah on LE5,000 bail.
