Damanhour dentistry students demand transfer to other faculties

The Administrative Court of Alexandria, headed by Judge Mohamed Abdel Wahab Khafagy, vice president of the State Council, will review on Monday 23 March the lawsuit filed by the students of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Damanhour, demanding the closing of the faculty and distributing the students among other universities.

The students announced that they will continue the sit-in protest, which began 4 weeks ago.

The students demand to transferred to other dentistry faculties, due to the poor scientific and educational quality of their faculty at Damanhour.

A court issued an earlier ruling in favor of the students, but it has not been implemented by the minister of higher education or the university president, who were obliged by the ruling to provide equipped laboratories for the students.

The students complained that the university president has told them that providing equipment could take as long as 24 months, so they resorted to court to demand being transferred to other faculties.
