The Libyan Minister of Information, Culture and Antiquities Omar Hassan al-Qwairi said a group of Libyan experts and academics affiliated to the Ministry of Information were currently working on the formation of a comprehensive Arab media organization, including a satellite channel called the Arab Channel based in Cairo, in addition to a radio and a daily newspaper.
The proposal will be submitted to the Arab League for study and implementation, he told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Qwairi argued that media is an essential part of the fight against terrorism and against the conspiracies targeting the Arab nation, and therefore the proposal will be submitted to the Arab League to be funded by all Arab countries so as the funding can cover the breadth of the project.
"Strife is plaguing our Arab nation. The most prominent tools of this strife is media, funded by friends and enemies, and staffed by idiots and agents," Qwairi said.
"It also comes after important Arab League meetings that stressed the importance of activating the joint Arab defense agreement, and voting via the foreign ministers on a draft resolution to form a joint Arab force that would contribute to maintening security and stability in all Arab countries," Qwairi mentioned.
