The period between 2010, when he was a general, and 2015, when he became a doctor, is a chapter in the life of a man and a page in the history of the nation.
1 – We heard of him after the revolution, when he was the youngest major general appointed by President Hosni Mubarak to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
2 – And we heard more of him under the Brotherhood when President Mohamed Morsi promoted him to colonel general and appointed him as defense minister.
3 – Then we loved and supported him in the June 30 revolution that overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood, after which President Adly Mansour appointed him as field marshal.
4 – And then we chose him for the presidency in an election where there were no other alternatives, a win that was almost unanimous, and he became the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a title bestowed upon him by the Egyptian people.
5 – And during his visit to Germany, which I believe should have been postponed until there was better timing, we found out that God created him as a doctor who diagnoses and treats people, according to the six-column headline of Al-Masry Al-Youm on Friday that quoted Sisi as saying: “God created me a doctor who diagnoses diseases and prescribes treatment.”
The paper said this statement came during his meeting with the Egyptian community in Berlin, which started with a moment of silence to mourn three Egyptians who were killed on their way to celebrate the president.
6 – Our joy was completed in Hungary when he received an honorary doctorate from a Hungarian university that was founded in January 2012. He was the third Arab personality to get the degree from that university, after Saudi business tycoon Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
The university has three post-graduate faculties, namely the Faculty of Military Science and Training of Officers (formerly called the Faculty of National Defense), the Faculty of Law Enforcement (formerly called the Police Academy) and the faculty of Public Administration. And it is considering a fourth faculty for European and International Studies.
But the university also has three research centers, namely the Training and Sustainable Development Center, the Crisis Management Center and the National Security Center.
This was a summary of the exceptional journey of an extraordinary man with unique leadership skills that will be hard to find again. For in just five years, from 2010 to 2015, and at the speed of light, we saw him jump from major general to colonel general, field marshal to president to doctor.
If this is a fact, then what rights do the patients have? Can they object to the doctor's diagnosis and prescription? Is medicine a science achieved with laboriousness and diligence, or is it a grant that can be bestowed? Does it not require practice?
God knows that it hurts me to say that the doctor's diagnosis and prescription are wrong. Do I dare say that?
We have a proverb in our country that says everyone is his own doctor. And if the doctor has the right to take pride in himself, the patients also have the right to complain.
