Damietta governorate witnessed heavy rain Wednesday evening, accompanied by thunder and lightning, which led to severe flooding that suspended traffic and closed businesses.
Damietta's governor and security director followed up on the process of pumping out rain water from the street and the cleaning of gutters, which continued until dawn on Thursday.
A state of emergency was announced by the governor until the streets have been completely drained.
