Heavy rain fell on Alexandria and some parts of the western North Coast on Thursday morning, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
The bad weather affected traffic and caused many residents, especially school students, to stay home.
Water accumulated under bridges and in tunnels and Alexandria's local authorities used vehicles to clear water and clean the streets and drainage systems.
Alexandria Security Directorate tightened traffic measures to prevent congestion in the streets.
The rainfall did not affect navigation at Bughazi and Dekheila straits due to moderate wind speed.
Acting head of Alexandria Port Authority Fatehy Taha said the movement of ships and loading activities went on as normal at the port, unaffected by the rain.
