Twelve engineers employed with the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development were arrested Wednesday on charges of forgery in official documents to facilitate the acquisition of land worth LE2 billion.
Head of the Public Funds Investigation Department of Giza Mohamed Hassan received a communication saying businessmen seized 85,000 acres on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road and Nubaria Road.
According to investigations, 12 engineers with the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development forged official documents that prove the ownership of businessmen to 85,000 acres, in return for bribes. The bribe is equal to a certain rate of the price of every acre, according to investigations.
The estimated value of seized land is LE2 billion.
