Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong will sign on Sunday five agreements related to education and scientific research in the two countries.
In remarks made at Cairo International Airport on Saturday for the press, Higher Education Minister Ashraf al-Sheehy highlighted the importance of Yandong’s visit to Egypt, saying that the agreements will include scholarships, training for teachers and joint scientific research. The agreements will last for five years to come.
The cornerstone of the new Confucius Institute at Cairo University was laid on Sunday with Yandong in attendance. It is hoped that the building, named after an educational organization affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education, will contribute to cultural and scientific cooperation and exchange between the two countries.
