Egypt celebrates Eid al-Adha, parks and beaches full of activity

Millions of citizens performed the Eid al-Adha prayer in yards and mosques in Cairo and the governorates, on Saturday.

They exchanged greetings and handshakes, and citizens launched balloons over the worshipers.

Gardens and parks witnessed a moderate turnout in light of rising temperatures.

The Al-Azhar Mosque and its yard were filled with worshipers, amid strict precautionary and security measures to assure citizens not to enter without masks, to emphasize social distancing, and to enter with prayer rugs.

Citizens accompanied their children to perform the Eid prayer.

Even governors participated in the prayers, distributing roses to children and worshipers, and some gifts to workers in the streets.

 

The joy of Eid

Citizens also performed Eid prayer at the Hosary Mosque in the 6th of October City in Giza. The outer squares were filled with worshipers.

After the end of the Eid prayer, citizens celebrated the manifestations of the feast, in gardens, parks and beaches, despite the high temperatures.

Many Alexandrians flocked to the Corniche to take photos, after performing the Eid prayer, and the city’s beaches witnessed a turnout of citizens and youth eagerly flocked to amusement parks.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also performed the Eid prayer at the Field Marshal Tantawy Mosque in New Cairo, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayyeb, and Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defense and Military Production, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and some officials and senior statesmen.

President Sisi shared congratulations with the kings and heads of Arab and Islamic countries.
