Many countries rely on Egypt to transfer its nationals safely from Sudan across the Egyptian borders, according to a report from RT.
The official website of the Chinese embassy in Egypt confirmed on Monday that the security situation in Sudan has deteriorated, and Chinese citizens were evacuated through the Sudanese-Egyptian border in cooperation between the Chinese embassies in Sudan and Egypt.
The Chinese embassies in Sudan and Egypt urged Chinese nationals planning to leave Sudan via borders with Egypt to pay close attention to the local situation, strengthen personal safety precautions, carefully decide on the evacuation route, be sure to plan their itinerary before departure, and think in advance about vehicle maintenance and supplies.
It also warned them to pay attention to travel safety and avoid war zones.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in a Monday press conference that the first batch of Chinese nationals has been safely evacuated to countries neighboring Sudan.
Two buses evacuating South African citizens from Sudan have safely arrived at the border with Egypt, South Africa’s Head of Public Diplomacy Clayson Monyela announced on Tuesday.
Monyela wrote on Twitter: “The two busses have safely arrived at the border with Egypt. We have officials from the SA Embassy in Egypt to receive them and facilitate their entry into Egypt. SA government will pay for their flights back to SA. The support of everyone, including @GiftoftheGivers and the government of Egypt, is acknowledged and appreciated.”
Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, thanked the efforts by Egyptian authorities as well as Saudi Arabia and Turkey for helping his country to evacuate Pakistani nationals from Sudan.
A statement was issued by the Pakistani Prime Minister’s office on Monday, stating that the government’s emergency plan for the safe evacuation of Pakistanis from Sudan had been completed successfully.
The statement added about 427 Pakistanis have arrived at Port Sudan, their transfer to Pakistan and special flights to take them back have begun.
“The Pakistanis will be transported to safer places through small groups from Khartoum,” it added.
The Sudanese Al-Merrikh football club also announced the arrival of its foreign players and its technical staff to the city of Aswan, after their evacuation safely to Egypt on their way back to Brazil.
Al-Merrikh club published an official statement, in which it confirmed that evacuees included the team’s Brazilian technical staff and players including Alex da Silva, Paulo Sergio, Sergio Rafael, Bryan Edinson, Suleiman Fatao and others, have arrived in Aswan.
The statement added that the evacuation was via the land road between Egypt and Sudan, after coordination between the Brazilian embassy in Cairo and the Brazilian consulate in Sudan.
