The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) announced Monday that railway tickets can now be booked online.
This service is provided in cooperation with the financial facilities operating technology company “E-Finance”, it added.
Passengers can book train tickets online and through smartphone applications, where they can pay for tickets via bank cards and electronic payment methods.
They will automatically receive their ticket, which can be printed or kept on their smartphones to be used without having to visit a train station ticket counter.
The service also enables passengers to register basic data such as their name, national ID number and e-mail address, which allows train tickets to be booked 15 days before the trip.
It also adds the possibility for a single passenger to book up to four tickets per day. Tickets can be used to cross from electronic gates and be shown whenever needed.
Passengers can manage and modify their electronic reservations or return the ticket in the event of cancellation, and the money is electronically refunded to the card used for booking within 14 working days after deducting the prescribed fees.
Reservations will soon be available through sales agents in shops, in addition to the website and mobile application.
Passengers can book through the following website or through the mobile application “ENR Tickets”, currently available for Android and Apple devices.
