Temperatures to drop across Egypt as winter approaches: EMA

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority’s (EMA) weather maps show a drop in temperatures in the north of the country and Greater Cairo to northern Upper Egypt, however the weather will remain very hot in the south of the country during daylight hours.

The EMA expects that the maximum temperatures in Cairo to reach 32C, falling to 29C in the coastal governorates, and rising to 40C in the southern governorates.

 

Sunday’s weather

Sunday’s weather will be hot and humid during the day in most parts of the country, growing very hot in the southern parts of the country.

The weather will be moderately hot and humid at night.

Weather maps revealed active winds in most parts, adding further improvement to temperatures.

Active winds are expected on some beaches (Matrouh – al-Alamein – Alexandria – Baltim – Port Said) with wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/ hour, and waves rising to two and 2.5 meters.

Satellites detected the proliferation of low and medium clouds in the north of the country, which may be accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in some areas of the northeastern coasts and the northern part of the Delta, extending lightly to areas of the northwestern coasts and the southern part of the Delta intermittently.

  • Alexandria: 29C
  • Cairo: 32C
  • Sharm el-Sheikh: 36C
  • Hurghada: 37C
  • Luxor 39C
  • Aswan: 40C
