The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned that Israel is not allowing humanitarian aid to enter northern Gaza.
In a post on the “X” platform on Monday, Lazzarini said that Palestinians in northern Gaza are under siege, while Israeli attacks in the area have targeted hospitals and left them without electricity, and deprived the wounded from health services.
He also pointed to the severe overcrowding in UNRWA shelters due to Israel’s intensified attacks.
Lazzarini stressed that Israel “prevents humanitarian missions from delivering vital aid such as medicine and food to the area,” and called for relief organizations, including the UNRWA, to be allowed to enter northern Gaza.
“Denying & weaponizing humanitarian assistance to achieve military purposes is a sign of how low the moral compass is,” he wrote.
