Trump administration nominates Egyptian-American for US Transportation Secretary

American reports revealed on Friday that Egyptian-American Emil Michael is amongst the prominent names nominated by Silicon Valley’s technological elite to head the US Department of Transportation in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.

The New York Times reported that over the past week, US technology leaders recommended specific names to American businessman Elon Musk, who will lead the Government Efficiency Department alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, in an effort to have Silicon Valley contribute to the selection of influential figures to participate in Donald Trump’s new administration.

Technology leaders in the US nominated the Egyptian-American, who served as the second CEO of Uber in its early years, to head the Department of Transportation in the Trump administration, RT Arabic reported.

According to Egyptian media, Michael, the leading candidate for the US Transportation Secretary position, is no stranger to the White House.

He previously served as a White House Fellow and Special Assistant to Robert Gates at the Department of Defense from 2009 to 2011.

Michael was born in Cairo before his family moved to the United States. He holds advanced degrees from Harvard University in government and a doctorate in law from Stanford University.
