Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat asserted Egypt’s appreciation to the depth of joint ties with the World Economic Forum (WEF) as it is an international platform that gathers representatives of governments and private sectors in addition to different parties to promote discussions on facing economic and developmental challenges and encouraging forming effective policies whether during Davos gathering or via creative initiatives and thoughts.
This came during Mashat’s meeting on Saturday 23/11/2024 with WEF Chairman Børge Brende within the framework of his official visit to Egypt to discuss future fields of cooperation between Egypt and the WEF in addition to building on strategic partnership with the WEF that was launched in 2020 in the several developmental and economic fields.
Mashat pointed out to strategic cooperation with the WEF in the different domains including empowering women, green transformation and future economic growth in addition using the different platforms of the forum since 2020 to promote for economic reforms and efforts of green transformation.
Both sides discussed joint visions in the field of economic reform and the latest economic developments in Egypt in addition to focusing on the importance given by the Egyptian government to widely include the private sector in the Egyptian economy.
Mashat reviewed the accomplishments of the Egyptian government to implement a national program for structural reform which includes policies and measures included in three main axes including economic stability, resilience, boosting economic competitiveness, improving business environment and supporting green transformation.
Meanwhile, Brende lauded the strong relations between the WEF and Egypt, praising the efforts exerted by the Egyptian government in the field of economic reform to boost total economic stability and face international and regional development challenges.
