Egypt’s Giza Governorate announces closure of 26th of July Axis

The Giza Governorate has announced a complete closure of the 26th of July Axis, specifically the stretch between the Western Ring Road and the New Ahmed Arabi Axis, in the direction coming from 6th of October City towards Lebanon Square.

This closure will commence at 12 AM on Friday and will last for 7 months, with construction work ongoing 24 hours a day.

The governorate explained that this closure is necessary to facilitate the National Authority for Tunnels’ takeover of the first phase of the monorail station (Station 11) as part of the Nile Valley monorail project between Engineers and 6th of October, within the Giza Governorate.

The site will then be handed over to the company responsible for the construction work of the monorail stations.

The Giza Governorate, in coordination with the Giza Traffic Department, has implemented the following traffic diversions:

  1. Vehicles heading towards Lebanon Square and the 15th of May Bridge from 6th of October City: Vehicles should ascend the New Ahmed Arabi Axis towards Ahmed Arabi Street, then continue on Ahmed Arabi Street until reaching the Arab League Street and the 15th of May Bridge ramp towards Cairo Governorate.
  2. Vehicles heading towards Safat Al-Laban Axis, Mariyutiya Junction, and Ramses Square from 6th of October City: Vehicles should turn right towards the Engineer Sharif Ismail Axis, then continue on the Engineer Sharif Ismail Axis towards the Ring Road ramp towards Safat Al-Laban Axis, Mariyutiya Junction, and Ramses Square.
