The Egyptian General Authority for Meteorology (EMA) has issued a weather warning for Thursday and Friday, as Egypt is currently experiencing unstable weather conditions.
Several governorates will see varying degrees of rainfall, thunderstorms, and a significant drop in temperatures.
The meteorology department attributed these weather fluctuations to a low-pressure system centered over the Mediterranean Sea, accompanied by a deep upper-level low-pressure system.
Thursday’s rainfall map indicates:
- Heavy and thundery rain is expected throughout the day along the northwestern coasts (Salloum, Marsa Matruh), with a high probability of flash floods. This necessitates caution and adherence to instructions issued by local authorities.
- Rain clouds are likely to gradually extend to cover Alexandria, Baltim, Kafr al-Sheikh, and Beheira, with moderate to heavy rainfall, possibly accompanied by lightning and thunder.
- There are chances of rain in Menoufia, Mahalla al-Kubra, Tanta, Dakahlia, Sharkia, Qalyubia, Cairo, and Giza, but less intense compared to the northern coastal areas.
Friday’s rainfall map indicates:
- Rainfall opportunities will continue in the same areas, but it will be light to moderate in the northern coastal areas, especially Alexandria and Matrouh.
- Weather conditions are expected to improve starting from Friday evening in most areas.
