Reflecting Egypt’s success in cementing its position as a regional hub for natural gas trade and export, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced a new shipment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exported from the Idku liquefaction complex.
The cargo was carried by the tanker LNG ENDURANCE, operated by the French company TotalEnergies, which departed the Idku port bound for Turkey.
The ministry stated that the shipment volume is approximately 150,000 cubic meters of LNG, part of a regulated program for exporting Egyptian gas.
This program aims to maximize returns from the country’s natural resources and support the national trade balance amid growing demand for gas in European and regional markets.
This export aligns with the strategy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to incentivize global companies to increase their investments in the natural gas sector, through encouraging exploration activities and developing local production: thereby strengthening Egypt’s standing as a key player in the global energy market.
Deepwater cooperation with TotalEnergies
The ministry also noted its close cooperation with TotalEnergies to expand its investments in the deep waters of the Mediterranean, through the implementation of ambitious exploration projects that rely on the latest global technologies.
TotalEnergies benefits from Egypt’s advanced infrastructure in gas liquefaction and export, which thereby contributes to accelerating development operations and reducing operating costs.
Furthermore, this collaboration enhances Egypt’s ability to leverage its distinguished geographical location as a primary gateway for energy trade between the East and the West.
