Russia and Egypt aim to further cooperation between defense ministries

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced that Russia and Egypt intend to strengthen cooperation between their defense ministries, during his meeting with Egyptian Defense Minister General Abdel-Magid Saqr in Cairo, RT reported on Tuesday.

“We consider it essential to enhance cooperation between the Russian and Egyptian defense ministries, particularly through regular joint combat exercises, strengthening the regulatory framework for military cooperation, and expanding the training of Egyptian military personnel at Russian Defense Ministry military academies,” Shoigu said.

He noted that the Russian-Egyptian Joint Committee for Military-Technical Cooperation holds its meetings regularly.

“Russian weapons and technologies supplied to Egypt have become one of the most important elements in strengthening your country’s comprehensive defense system,” he emphasized.

Shoigu said that the proven reliability of Russian-made equipment allows the Egyptian Armed Forces to maintain a high level of readiness.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Monday with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and ways to develop them in the political and economic spheres.
