The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned of an ongoing heatwave on Saturday coupled with sharp atmospheric fluctuations across several regions.
Extreme heat and atmospheric instability
The forecast indicates mild conditions in the early morning, transitioning to hot daytime temperatures across most of the country. Southern Upper Egypt will experience extreme heat, while temperatures are expected to remain moderate overnight.
The maximum temperature for Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt is expected to reach a high of 32°C.
Rainfall and thunderstorms
The EMA warned of moderate, occasionally thundery rainfall over Salloum, Matrouh, and Siwa. Light, intermittent showers are also expected to reach El Alamein and Alexandria. Additionally, low-level cloud cover may result in light, negligible drizzles across scattered parts of Greater Cairo and the Canal Cities.
Sandstorms and morning fog
Wind and Dust: Wind speeds of 30 to 35 km/h are expected to kick up sand and dust across the North Coast, Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and Northern Upper Egypt, significantly reducing horizontal visibility.
Morning Fog: Dense water vapor (mist) will form between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM on highways leading to and from Cairo, the Canal Cities, and Northern Upper Egypt. Motorists are advised to exercise caution.
