Kuwait condemns Iran’s repeated targeting of civilian facilities

Kuwait harshly condemned an Iranian attack that it said targeted a power and water desalination plant on Sunday morning.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement, that the repeated and deliberate targeting of vital and civilian facilities reflects a “systematic aggressive approach” and represents a grave and escalating threat to the safety and security of civilians.

The statement said that the targeting of vital and civilian facilities is a violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817.

The ministry held Iran fully responsible for these attacks and their resulting consequences.

It affirmed that Kuwait reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to preserve its security and defend its territory and vital facilities against any aggression or threat, based on the right of self-defense stipulated in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
