The new minimum wage will be implemented in August, Egypt's Finance Ministry said on Monday.
State employees who receive a monthly salary of less than LE400 will have it raised to LE700.
In a statement, the ministry denied news that the increase was postponed because it was not included in the state budget for the fiscal year 2011-2012.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf on Monday met with Finance Minister Hazem al-Beblawy to discuss several issues related to the payment of the new, raised salaries.
Meanwhile, Sharaf urged economic ministers to immediately work on controlling prices ahead of Ramadan.
