Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), paid a sudden visit to Tahrir Square on Friday after prayers, leaving after a few minutes.
Tantawi arrived with tight security, and talked briefly with members of the military police and Central Security Forces stationed in the square.
