A source at Red Sea Navigation, the company that operates the ship MV Suez, which was hijacked by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden earlier this week, said the company had failed to contact the ship’s captain.
The source, however, expected the problem to be quickly resolved, noting that his company had earlier succeeded in recovering another one of its ships that had also been hijacked by Somali corsairs.
Company President Abdel Meguid Mattar urged the media not to exaggerate the crisis in its coverage so as not to alarm the families of the crew.
Families of crew members, for their part, called on the Foreign Ministry to take all necessary steps to recover their relatives.
