Egypt's Coptic Church "has not invited prominent opposition figures such as Mohamed El-Baradei and Ayman Nour"–both of whom entertain presidential ambitions–to its annual Ramadan iftar, according to church official Samuel Farid.
The church began sending out invitations to its yearly “National Unity” iftar on Tuesday.
Invitations were reportedly sent to President Hosni Mubarak; ruling National Democratic Party assistant secretary-general and presidential scion Gamal Mubarak; Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif; government ministers; provincial governors; members of parliament; Shura Council speakers; heads of political parties; and editors-in-chief of prominent newspapers.
