‘A big mistake’ – Netanyahu issues first comment on Iran’s attack on Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in response to Iran’s missile assault on Israel that “Iran made a big mistake and will pay the price for it.”

He continued in a brief statement on Tuesday evening: “The Iranian attack on Israel failed and was thwarted.”

The US Department of Defense, Pentagon, announced that the US fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself after the major Iranian attack.

The Pentagon noted that the Iranian missile attack on Israel was “twice the size” of its attack on April 14.

The Pentagon spokesperson stated in a press conference that no US military assets other than naval destroyers helped shoot down the Iranian missiles, all of which were launched from inside Iran.

“We are not aware of any warning from Iran before the attack on Israel, and if Iran attacks US interests, we will defend our citizens,” he stressed.

Iran strikes back

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Tuesday that it had begun to strike important military targets with dozens of missiles in the occupied territories.

It indicated in a statement that the operation was carried out based on a decision by the Supreme National Security Council and the support of the army, according to what was reported by international media.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that any Israeli military response to this operation will be met with more destructive and stronger attacks.
