Director of Egyptian Intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel, met with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza on Monday evening to lay the cornerstone of the President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s residential city project.
The ceremony was attended by leaders of different Palestinian factions and ministers from the Ramallah government.
The residential project is located on an area of 100,000 meters in the Nuseirat sea area, and will contain 10,000 housing units.
Kamel also inspected, during his visit to the Gaza Strip, the city’s proposed reconstruction sites.
Sisi pledged US$500 million for the reconstruction of Gaza following an 11-day war between Hamas militants and the Israeli military left the city in shambles.
